LEGO Review Collectible Minifigures Series 6: Butcher #8827

without comments

I think my favorite City LEGO figures are the ones that can double as some D-list or below Batman villain. Granted, some of Batman’s rogues aren’t exactly the cream of the crop and almost anyone can try to battle the Bat (and lose horribly). Or if you don’t want your LEGO City overrun by psychopaths, you can just treat these figures are run of the mill city folk.

“Howdy! How about some meat?” The Butcher is a cheerful chap in his tidy hat and apron, always happy to chat about the weather or pass on the latest news from town. But no matter how a conversation with him starts, somehow it always ends up coming around to the subject of meat.

It’s really no surprise; after all, it’s the Butcher’s very favorite thing in the entire world. Whether you’re talking poultry or sausage, hamburger patties or a fresh T-bone steak, you’ll never find anybody who knows more about meat. Ask around and you’ll see!

The Butcher is a great addition to the LEGO-verse for far more reasons than I ever expected. The figure looks great. Wearing a clean white garb with a bright red bow tie, he presents himself very well. The striped apron looks good and the paint versus plastic applications is remarkable. This is one of the few LEGO figures that seems to have perfected the look of seamlessly transferring between white plastic with blue lines to blue plastic with white lines.

The head is another fine addition to the LEGO world since it is so multipurpose. The smiling face has no markings on it that really date the figure in any way and the inclusion of light brown mutton chops is great. Plus the idea of giving a butcher mutton chops is entertaining too – or maybe I’m having too much fun with wordplay.

The accessories in the collectible minifigure line are quickly stealing the show. Sleepyhead’s teddy bear was great, but the Butcher brings three new pieces to the table! The paper hat is slanted just enough to look right. A massive butcher’s cleaver is bound to get some sociopaths excited. Finally there is the massive bone-in t-bone steak. Cast in white plastic, the red accents give the steak a cartoon look that works very well. If you want your cavemen (and women) eating meat over a fire, it’s great for that too! A display stand is present as always as well.

When trying to find this figure, try feeling for the piece of meat – it’s bigger than you’d think! With everything together, the Butcher is a perfect figure. While he isn’t as exciting as the Clockwork Robot visually, there is no denying how well done this guy is. The figure has great paint applications, the accessories are astounding and everything comes together in the end.
