LEGO Minifigure Series 2: Karate Master Review (8684)

with one comment

The LEGO Minifigures are interesting and some figures that could have been really fun just get horribly overshadowed by other much more impressive figures in the series. I mean, a guy named Karate Master sounds like he should be teaching ninjas how to fight, not look like he’s trying a different comb over style.

“Whatever it is, I can chop it in half!”

The Karate Master is ready to take on any challenge. His martial arts training is the most important thing to him, and even though he’s already a master, he’s always practicing more to make himself even better.

Since he earned his black belt, the Karate Master has devoted his efforts to teaching others to reach their own maximum skill levels – not just at karate, but at everything else that interests them, too. With so many trophies on his shelves, it’s no wonder everyone wants to learn from him!

The Karate Master is a pretty normal LEGO figure. Wearing a white gi with a black belt tied around his waist, there is also an entwined golden piece on the chest. The outfit looks good but really suffers from one problem plaguing LEGO legs – there’s no paint on the hinges, so the moment the figure leans back, there are odd gaps.

The face is smirking with strong cheekbones. For the hair piece though, it’s a receding hairline! It’s the least badass look possible for a karate master. Call me crazy, but I expect a karate master to either be someone super old or some young prodigy.

For an accessory the Karate Master comes with the 4×3 display plate and a brand new piece – a trophy! It’s a small gold trophy in the shape of a LEGO figure! It’s genius and a fantastic little piece. To make it better, he actually comes with two of them! The trophy can attach on pegs or the head can be held in a figures hand.

The figure isn’t bad, but the hair just feels so wrong. But the golden trophies are fantastic accessories that make me satisfied with this random blind pack.
