LEGO Minifigure Series 4 Artist Review (8804)

without comments

After finally catching up on the collectible LEGO minifigures, LEGO went ahead and released the fourth wave of these little guys! While they’re a bit of a challenge to find in stores still, don’t worry. If series 3 is any indicator, LEGO seriously upped their production numbers.

“All the world is my canvas, and I must paint it!”

Everything the Artist sees inspires him to paint. The sunset, the sky, the bugs, passing airplanes…each one gives him the idea for a truly magnificent work of art, and he is consumed with painting them until he is done.

Since he doesn’t carry a canvas with him everywhere he goes, though, this leads to him painting on whatever surface happens to be handy. He paints on walls, rocks, trees and anything else he can find. You’d think it might get him in trouble, but his artistic creations are so spectacular that no one ever seems to mind!

The Artist is a fine addition to the LEGO City world. Splattered in different colors of paints, his tan legs have purple and blue splotches all over them. His white smock is speckled in gray, red and black as well, while his bluish gray scarf is resting low on his neck.

The face looks great with a small goatee on the chin, a thin straight mouth and a raised eyebrow. It definitely looks pensive and works well on other figures too.

For accessories, the Artist comes with a decent amount. The display base is still the exact same and his black beret is swiped directly from the Mime. But his palette and paintbrush are both brand new designs that work great. The palette has a grip on the back for him to hold it and it’s covered in dabs of yellow, red, blue and green. His paintbrush is brown with a silver ring and green paint on the tip.

As a figure, the Artist isn’t super exciting but he’s beautifully executed. The sideways beret, the deep in thought head and the art supplies all make for a unique civilian to be devoured when the zombies arrive or maybe get incinerate when the aliens come. Or maybe he just lives in his studio and makes amazing art. I guess that’s okay too.
