Combat Heroes Review: Wild Bill & Ripcord

without comments

When the cartoon-themed Combat Heroes line got canceled, several figures had been revealed that never made it into stores. But Hasbro figured out a way to at least get everyone’s favorite pilot released in the movie line, even if he never showed up in the film.

Combat Heroes Review: Snake Eyes & Aquaviper

without comments

Snake Eyes always shows up when G.I. Joe toys are involved. After all, he is a ninja and kids tend to think ninja are cool. But so far we’ve gotten several different cartoon versions, a movie version, an ice-themed version and a little kid version! Hasbro evidently didn’t think it was enough and decided Snake Eyes needed to go underwater next. Read the rest of this entry »

Combat Heroes Review: Young Storm Shadow & Young Snake Eyes

without comments

One of the best fight scenes I’ve seen in a film in a long time was in G.I. Joe the Rise of Cobra. Sure, saying that a fight between Storm Shadow and Snake Eyes sounds pretty standard and happens all the time in G.I. Joe – but this fight was between two children. And it was amazingly brutal.

G.I. Joe Combat Heroes Review: Destro & Cover Girl

without comments

In G.I. Joe the Rise of Cobra, Destro didn’t really become Destro until the end of the film, so Hasbro had to get creative when it came to Combat Heroes figures. In the end though, it’s like they just said screw it and put everyone’s favorite Scottish arms dealer in the metal mask and called it a day.

G.I. Joe Combat Heroes Review: Duke & Para-Viper

without comments

Once the G.I. Joe the Rise of Cobra Combat Heroes were confirmed, it seemed like someone at Hasbro made sure that there were plenty of army builders for Cobra to make up for the lackluster number in the original Combat Heroes line. But this meant more than just making some Cobra Vipers and calling it a day, they went all out with land, sea and air.

G.I. Joe Combat Heroes Review: Ice Viper & Snow Snake Eyes

without comments

Action figure variants fall into three different categories: worthwhile and well executed, thoughtless and dumb, and so incredible awful they’ve crossed back in to being good again. This set falls into the first category since at least it’s a screen accurate look for the G.I. Joe’s resident ninja.

Combat Heroes Review: Breaker & Civilian Storm Shadow

without comments

When G.I. Joe the Rise of Cobra took the classic Real American heroes and turned them into a multi-national elite military group fighting terrorism, which meant a few classic characters got changed. Besides Cobra Commander’s new look, the classic bubble gum chewing Breaker went from a guy from Tennessee to a Moroccan.

Movie Combat Heroes Review: Scarlett & Cobra Neo-Viper

without comments

The first wave of the G.I. Joe the Rise of Cobra Combat Heroes did a pretty good job of getting all the major players, but there was one glaring omission: the lovely Scarlett! Luckily, wave 2 remedied this and provided the adorable redhead.

Movie Combat Heroes Review: General Hawk & Cobra Viper

without comments

Turns out I lied when I reviewed Ripcord; he wasn’t the only weaponless G.I. Joe Combat Hero. He just happened to be the only one with empty hands, because General Hawk happens to be lacking in the weapons department too.

G.I. Joe Movie Combat Heroes Review: Neo-Viper & Snake Eyes

without comments

I understand Cobra is a well-funded organization but where in the hell do they keep getting people who are willing to work for them? I mean, people rarely die – hell, people rarely even get hurt. Are they all just actors paid by Cobra Commander’s father to keep his deranged son happy? If the Neo-Vipers were like the Hot Cops, suddenly everything makes more sense.
