Amazing Spider-Man Super Hero Squad Review: Super Villain Surprise

without comments

It’s been what feels like ages since any Super Hero Squad figures have been released. The Avengers was supposed to include some new sets, but those never materialized so it’s been almost a year since I last got my hands on any new figures! But after the line got unofficially canceled, I can’t say I’m surprised. Kind of like how I’m not surprised that Hasbro used this as excuse to just release the same figures in this three pack. Marvel Super Hero Squad Review: Iron Patriot & War Machine

without comments

Just like the Thor and Spider-Man pack, this set is simply two repaints tossed together, but unlike that set; both of these figures are fantastic. But toy manufacturers must love Iron Man and War Machine because those two can be any colors and still work. Read the rest of this entry »

Marvel Super Hero Squad Review: Black Costume Spider-Man & Green Goblin

without comments

He’s finally arrived! After four years of waiting and waiting for a comic accurate Green Goblin to show up in the Super Hero Squad, Hasbro finally released him stateside. Sure, some of the more crazy collectors (myself included) imported the Spider-Man Saves the Day set to get Norman Osborn and Mary Jane, but now he’s here! Read the rest of this entry »

Super Hero Squad Review: Green Goblin IV & Spider-Man

with 2 comments

In the grand scheme of things, Spider-Man’s rogue gallery is oddly represented in the Super Hero Squad. His movie line released a handful of villains but most of them in their movie costumes or weirdly modern ones. But after the line’s cancellation, Spidey and friends got thrown into the Super Hero Squad – of course Spider-Man tended to show up far more than his supporting characters.

Super Hero Squad Review: Spider-Man Saves the Day

without comments

When I first got Secret Wars and Secret Invasion Super Hero Squad 4-packs, I was really excited. But the whole time I had them, something was bugging me: the continual fact that the unreleased wave before those had continued to elude me. So for my birthday I bought myself the Winter Soldier Saga and this pack, Spider-Man Saves the Day. Now only Kraven continues to be out of my grasp.

Spider-Man Super Hero Squad Review: Green Goblin & New Goblin

without comments

The Spider-Man Super Hero Squad line had a tough path to tread. With only a singular hero that meant a lot of packs would get Spider-Man but this is the first one to drop the titular hero and included a father and son pair instead! Sure, it doesn’t make any sense from a continuity standpoint, but getting two goblins over another Spider-Man isn’t necessarily a bad thing.

Spider-Man 3 Super Hero Squad – Unmasked Spider-Man & New Goblin

without comments

It’s amazing how often super heroes end up having their costumes destroyed but one of them takes the cake: Spider-Man. While Reed Richards has given many heroes costumes made of unstable molecules that prevent them from ripping, Spider-Man got the short end of the stick. It seems like no matter where or who he fights, he ends up losing a bootie or having to do some major patching work. But maybe that’s just another power he got from the spider that bit him, the ability to be able to sow really, really well.

Marvel Super Hero Squad Review: Spider-Man & Green Goblin

without comments

It’s funny that there was once a time when there wasn’t an overabundance of Spider-Man in the Super Hero Squad. In fact, there was a time where there weren’t any Spider-Men!  But once Spider-Man 3 was about to debut in theaters the reason why Spider-Man wasn’t in the Super Hero Squad was made apparent: he was getting his own line!
