Hulk Super Hero Squad Review: The Brawl that Shook the World

The Hulk Super Hero Squad clearly took its game plan from Spider-Man’s line. A bunch of two-packs along with one giant pack that’s all repaints – I feel like I’ve heard all of this before.
Just when the Hulkbusters have the Incredible Hulk cornered in New York City, the Abomination comes smashing through, destroying everything in his path! Though the Hulkbusters are protected in their powerful Sonic Tank, only the Hulk has the power to stop the Abomination and save the city!

For a while, the Super Hero Squad avoided any C or D-list characters, they stuck with the big names like Spider-Man, Wolverine, Captain America, Hulk and Iron Man. But gradually, Hasbro started peppering more obscure characters and this one is the last one, at least alphabetically.

I loved Marvel Zombies when they first came out in the Ultimate Fantastic Four series. Sure, it was originally heralded as the first cross over between the 616 universe and the Ultimate universe (that didn’t actually happen until a vague off hand reference in She-Hulk during some crazy universe hopping). While I’m not the first person to make Marvel Zombie Super Hero Squad customs, I did try a different method to set mine apart from the absolutely amazing set made by MutieJoe.

I love that when a company really wants to push something, how quickly products can get on the shelf. Skaar first debuted in January of 2008 in World War Hulk #5 and had his own Super Hero Squad figure eight months later! And Mattel claims this takes at least a year.

Sets that are absolutely fantastic are fun to review and sets that fail miserably are a blast too (provided I didn’t pay too much money on them) but then there are sets that are so not good that there isn’t anything witty to say about them.
