Hulk Super Hero Squad Review: Gamma Lab Playset with Hulk & Spider-Man

without comments

The Hulk Super Hero Squad line almost directly mirrored the Spider-Man Super Hero Squad. Thankfully, Hasbro omitted any additional absurd vehicles (if there had been a Hulk Battle Truck I would have lost it) but there was one repaint in the Hulk line that didn’t make much sense. And it just so happened to be a playset.

Hulk Super Hero Squad Review: The Brawl that Shook the World

without comments

The Hulk Super Hero Squad clearly took its game plan from Spider-Man’s line. A bunch of two-packs along with one giant pack that’s all repaints – I feel like I’ve heard all of this before.

Just when the Hulkbusters have the Incredible Hulk cornered in New York City, the Abomination comes smashing through, destroying everything in his path! Though the Hulkbusters are protected in their powerful Sonic Tank, only the Hulk has the power to stop the Abomination and save the city!

Hulk Super Hero Squad Review: Hulk & Zzzax

with one comment

For a while, the Super Hero Squad avoided any C or D-list characters, they stuck with the big names like Spider-Man, Wolverine, Captain America, Hulk and Iron Man. But gradually, Hasbro started peppering more obscure characters and this one is the last one, at least alphabetically.

Hulk Super Hero Squad Review: Hulk & Skaar, Son of Hulk

with one comment

I love that when a company really wants to push something, how quickly products can get on the shelf. Skaar first debuted in January of 2008 in World War Hulk #5 and had his own Super Hero Squad figure eight months later! And Mattel claims this takes at least a year.

Hulk Super Hero Squad Review: Hulk & Doc Samson

with 2 comments

Sets that are absolutely fantastic are fun to review and sets that fail miserably are a blast too (provided I didn’t pay too much money on them) but then there are sets that are so not good that there isn’t anything witty to say about them.

Hulk Super Hero Squad Review: The Leader & Gray Hulk

with one comment

Having recently rewatched The Incredible Hulk, I’ve got to hand it to the scriptwriters because they really did all they could to cram in as many characters from the Hulk mythos as possible. Sure, there’s the Hulk and Betty, along with General Thunderbolt Ross, the Abomination, Doc Samson and even Samuel Sterns – the Leader!

Hulk Super Hero Squad Review: She-Hulk & the Thing

with one comment

The Spider-Man Super Hero Squad had a tendency to always include the hero with a few exceptions, so while Iron Man makes up for this by usually including himself at least twice in each set, Hulk takes the Spider-Man path. So naturally, this pack includes two members of the Fantastic Four. Sometimes the Hulk just doesn’t make sense.

Hulk Super Hero Squad Review: Hulk & Absorbing Man

without comments

The Incredible Hulk didn’t give Hasbro many options for the toy line, so once they made the Abomination and Hulkbuster Soldiers, they immediately went to the comics for inspiration. But instead of drawing from the more recent Planet Hulk and World War Hulk, this pack goes way back and includes one of Thor’s original enemies.

Hulk Super Hero Squad Review: King Hulk & Black Bolt

without comments

A pack containing two kings? Now that’s something unique! It’s just a shame that the pairing of King Hulk and Black Bolt is more interesting than the figures. But what would you expect from a mute and a repack?

Hulk Super Hero Squad Review: Wolverine & Hulk

without comments

When you think of the most famous character to come out of the pages of The Incredible Hulk, most people would assume the answer would be, “the Hulk.” But while the big green guy is mighty popular, it’s nothing compared to a short little mutant known as Wolverine.
