If you leave Tony Stark alone for more than five minutes, he’s either going to start a super hero Civil War, get absolutely trashed or invent a dozen new suits. Or he’ll just repaint some of his old suits and tell you they’re new.
No matter where Tony Stark goes, he never stops inventing. He is a restless thinker, and a constant engineer. Over the years, he has built dozens of battle suits, both for himself and his friends and allies. Every single one is the best of its kind, a top-of-the-line suit of armor designed to seek and destroy evil wherever it hides.
I can pin point when I made the switch in comics from buying weekly issues to purchasing exclusively in trade paperbacks and hardcovers. The last straw for me was World War Hulk – the summer event the happened after Civil War in the Marvel Universe. Hulk had been blasted into space by the Illuminati and of course he returned and was very angry since his new adopted home world was destroyed. So he turned New York City into a gladiatorial arena and made the heroes fight, which was something they had spent the last year and a half doing already.
Of all the super heroes, there is really only one that can get away with an absurd number of variants that actually make sense: Iron Man. While most characters with crazy levels of preparedness don’t go beyond just carrying an antidote or a chunk of a rock, Iron Man goes out of his way to built new suits of armor just in case one of his friends starts attacking him. The guy has trust issues.
Tony Stark has built dozens of Iron Man suits over the years. Each one is specialized to a unique purpose, and stored here, in the Hall of Armor, until the day when it will have to be used. This single room holds the most powerful collection of weaponry ever assembled on Earth – equal to the might of most other super heroes combined!
