LEGO Iron Man Extremis Sea Port Battle

Like last time, this review may contain spoilers for Iron Man 3. Or comments that are completely wrong and out of place based solely on my own speculation. Either way, you’ve been warned. Read the rest of this entry »

LEGO Iron Man 3: Iron Man vs Mandarin

Warning: there may be spoilers for Iron Man 3 in this review. Or rampant speculation. Either way, if you’re worried about even the possibility of being spoiled then don’t read these reviews because they might give something away. Or maybe LEGO is just messing with us. Read the rest of this entry »

LEGO Legends of Chima Review: Winzar’s Pack Patrol #30251

LEGO Legends of Chima Winzar's Pack Patrol
I’ve fallen in love with the LEGO polybags for one simple reason: the take the best part of the collectible minifigures (new figures), subtract the worst part (blind bagging) and add in some bricks to remind me of the old $2.99 LEGO sets of my youth. Sure, the prices have gone up but the simple fact of the matter is I have been able to get one of each of the Legend of Chima animals for under $40 in all. Read the rest of this entry »

LEGO Legends of Chima Review: Ewar’s Acro-Fighter #30250

LEGO Legends of Chima Ewar's Acro-Fighter

Over lunch last weekend, Poe Ghostal, Rustin Parr, prfkttear and me (name dropping, I know) were talking about reviewing LEGO sets. Unlike most companies (cough Hasbro and Mattel, cough), LEGO’s press photos are super accurate. You see the image; you have a very good idea of what you’re getting. Every now and then, especially with minifigures though, there is more to them than meets the eye. Read the rest of this entry »

LEGO DC Super Heroes Review: The Batmobile #30161

LEGO DC Super Heroes the Batmobile

I’m in love with the polybag sets that Target has been selling in their seasonal section the last few years. Sometimes the sets are impossible to find (I’m still not convinced the Ghost set was real), but they’re often micro builds that just end up looking really cool. Case in point: the Batmobile. LEGO TMNT The Shellraiser Street Chase

I don’t know what is going on at LEGO this year when it comes to the capstone sets in each line. The Avengers Quinjet was bland, the Goblin King Battle was haphazardly designed and now Ninja Turtles joins the fray with this set. Read the rest of this entry »

LEGO TMNT Review: Turtle Lair Attack #79103

As a kid, there were three playsets everyone wanted to own: Castle Grayskrull, the Technodrome and the Sewer! While a LEGO Castle Grayskull isn’t a reality yet, getting a LEGO Sewer is awesome. Then again, the idea that another generation will find the idea of living in the sewer appealing probably will be an issue down the road. Read the rest of this entry »

LEGO TMNT Review: Baxter Robot Rampage #79105

without comments

With each new version of the Ninja Turtles, it is always exciting to see how classic characters get revisited. Baxter Stockman has gone from robotics genius, to mutant fly, to disemboweled scientist and now he’s… a guy who just got really lucky. Or really unlucky it hasn’t all panned out yet. LEGO TMNT Review: Shredder’s Dragon Bike #79101

I officially don’t understand scale in the LEGO universe. You would think a motorcycle would be smaller than a horse, right? Turns out you’re wrong or Dragon Bike means something else completely. Read the rest of this entry »

LEGO TMNT Review: Stealth Shell in Pursuit #79102

I love the Ninja Turtles. Seriously. When I look back at the stories that shaped me into who I am today, four properties have had drastic influences shaping me into who I am today: The Hobbit, Harry Potter, Spider-Man and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (of if you would prefer, J.R.R. Tolkien, J.K. Rowling, Stan Lee, Jack Kirby, Steve Ditko, Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird). So when I say I love LEGO right now, it goes beyond just the plastic bricks.

Or maybe LEGO implanted a chip in my brain while I was sleeping to get as much of my money as possible. Both seem like realistic options. Read the rest of this entry »
