LEGO DC Super Heroes Review: The Batcave #6860

without comments

In the never ending battle between DC and Marvel, there is one area where DC has won hands down: secret bases. While the Avengers Mansion is cool, it has nothing on the vast, subterranean Batcave! So while Marvel has better characters, DC definitely has better houses. Read the rest of this entry »

LEGO DC Super Heroes Review: The Batmobile and the Two-Face Chase #6864

without comments

It’s awkward because this set has been sitting fully assembled in my room for over six months now. It’s not that I dislike the set or dreaded reviewing it, it’s more of the simple fact that I ended up getting way too many toys after Christmas and they just kind of fell to the wayside. But with The Dark Knight Rises almost in theaters, it feels fitting to look at Batman once again.

As Batman heads toward the bank in his Batmobile, he spots Two-Face and his evil henchmen zooming off with a huge safe in tow! Help Batman put a stop to Two-Face’s wild ride and return the safe to where it belongs! Read the rest of this entry »

LEGO DC Super Heroes Review: The Dynamic Duo Funhouse Escape #6857

with 4 comments

The Joker has to be some kind of real estate genius. How else does he constantly end up in abandoned theme parks? Does he just buy them up or is he always squatting? More importantly, why does Gotham have so many abandoned theme parks?

If you are only going to get one LEGO DC Super Heroes set, this is the one to get. If you’re only going to get two, get this one and the Superman set. This is a set with three villains, two heroes, a vehicle and a massive build jammed packed with traps for the Dark Knight.

The Riddler, the Joker and his sidekick Harley Quinn are holding Robin hostage at their evil funhouse! As our hero Batman jumps off his cool Batcycle, can he avoid the trap door, big hammer and moving floor and rescue his crime-fighting partner? Read the rest of this entry »

LEGO DC Super Heros Review: Batwing Battle Over Gotham City #6863

without comments

LEGO seems to have realized just how powerful nostalgia is as a buying force. With the success of their Star Wars line, it doesn’t really surprise me that LEGO released a Batman set based on the 1989 film but it really works.

Hanging on a ladder below his helicopter, The Joker prepares to bomb the citizens of Gotham City with toxic laughing gas. Swoop Batman down in his ultra-fast batwing to save the day! Can the Caped Crusader use the flick missiles to send The Joker spinning off into the sunset? Or is all of Gotham City in peril? Read the rest of this entry »

LEGO DC Super Heroes Review: Catwoman Catcycle City Chase #6858

without comments

After a three-year hiatus, LEGO has returned full force with a new Super Hero line. Between licensing deals with both Marvel and DC, it’s a very exciting time to be a fan of comics and LEGO. It’s rather surprising just how thorough the original LEGO Batman line was, so a few of the sets feel a bit like rehashes from years ago – but that isn’t a bad thing.

On the back streets of Gotham City, Batman is trying to stop Catwoman from escaping on her speedy motorbike with a large diamond. Help him to topple the traffic light and cut off her getaway with his fast flying batarang!

The cheapest of the sets in this series comes in at $12.99 – a price that feels a touch too high for me. But licensed LEGO sets always run with a premium of 20% or so, but this really feels like a $10 set to me. Read the rest of this entry »
