Like last time, this review may contain spoilers for Iron Man 3. Or comments that are completely wrong and out of place based solely on my own speculation. Either way, you’ve been warned. Read the rest of this entry »
Warning: there may be spoilers for Iron Man 3 in this review. Or rampant speculation. Either way, if you’re worried about even the possibility of being spoiled then don’t read these reviews because they might give something away. Or maybe LEGO is just messing with us. Read the rest of this entry »
I’m in love with the polybag sets that Target has been selling in their seasonal section the last few years. Sometimes the sets are impossible to find (I’m still not convinced the Ghost set was real), but they’re often micro builds that just end up looking really cool. Case in point: the Batmobile. Licensing for major brands must be a challenge. Right now, you can go to your local Wal-Mart, Target or Toys “R” Us and buy Spider-Man from both LEGO and Mega Bloks! This set is technically labeled as being Ultimate Spider-Man, but there really isn’t anything about it that makes me think this is based on that continuity. Read the rest of this entry »
GameStop and I have a messy history going back to when I was in high school. As an avid gamer, video game shopping in South Portland, Maine was oddly oversaturated. My friends and I would regularly make the rounds between three GameStops, Bull Moose, Toys “R” Us, KB Toys (back when they still existed), Wal-Mart, Target and Newbury Comics – and that was just in a three mile loop!
But overtime I realized I was just buying games and never playing them, so now I only buy games I know I am going to play. And while I’ve loved the LEGO games, I usually wait until they’ve been out a while before picking them up. Then GameStop tempted me a little too much with the inclusion of Power Armor Lex Luthor with LEGO Batman 2! Read the rest of this entry »
In the never ending battle between DC and Marvel, there is one area where DC has won hands down: secret bases. While the Avengers Mansion is cool, it has nothing on the vast, subterranean Batcave! So while Marvel has better characters, DC definitely has better houses. Read the rest of this entry »
It’s awkward because this set has been sitting fully assembled in my room for over six months now. It’s not that I dislike the set or dreaded reviewing it, it’s more of the simple fact that I ended up getting way too many toys after Christmas and they just kind of fell to the wayside. But with The Dark Knight Rises almost in theaters, it feels fitting to look at Batman once again.
As Batman heads toward the bank in his Batmobile, he spots Two-Face and his evil henchmen zooming off with a huge safe in tow! Help Batman put a stop to Two-Face’s wild ride and return the safe to where it belongs! Read the rest of this entry »
I love it when the LEGO Store has giveaways since they just reward me for already buying way too much there. Almost all of my LEGO purchases now occur solely at LEGO Stores, I frequently end up with an extra set tossed into my giant bag. Is it bad that I don’t know if LEGO bags some smaller than massive? The final Marvel LEGO set is the biggest one, but instead of being the Helicarrier or some cityscape for our heroes to destroy, it ends up being the classic Avengers vehicle- the Quinjet! Part of me is still in awe that we even HAVE LEGO Avengers. Read the rest of this entry »
I have one big issue with this set. They claim this is the Helicarrier. The box artwork vaguely tries to make it work but it really doesn’t. Had they just called this Banner’s Lab or something, it would have been fine. But calling it the Helicarrier means I think of this. Read the rest of this entry »
