Wii Mario Kart K’NEX Review: Toad

without comments

Every time I hear the name Toad now, I immediately hear him go “Yahoo!” in his high pitched voice. I blame those years of playing so much Mario Kart Double Dash time trials on the Baby Course. Then again, we played the game so much we thought about having t-shirts made that say “I bring the Blue Sparks!” Man, that was a good game. Read the rest of this entry »

Wii Mario Kart K’NEX Review: Diddy Kong

without comments

For some unknown reason, I am cursed. It isn’t a terrible one like lycanthropy or anything like that. I just can’t beat video games. I remember playing Super Mario Land 2 on the Gameboy and just as I was about to jump on Wario the last time, the batteries died. Or the fact that I couldn’t beat Ocarina of Time for years – but I somehow got the Biggoron Sword before beating the Forest Temple. But Donkey Kong Country was the lone exception – not only did I beat it; I beat it and got 101%. Read the rest of this entry »

Wii Mario Kart K’NEX Review: Donkey Kong

without comments

K’NEX has become an odd company. Originally making a cross between Tinker Toys and Construx, they’ve now crossed into the LEGO world of blocks. While their sets haven’t wowed me, they have the Mario Kart license which means they get to make some excellent minifigures. The first wave included Mario, Luigi, Yoshi and Bowser but the second wave repeats those four and adds three new ones to the mix – at a cost. Read the rest of this entry »

K’NEX Mario Kart Wii Review: Luigi with Standard Go-Kart

without comments

It is only fitting that a character who started out as a simple palette swap ends up getting a toy that is pretty much identical to another one. Why reinvent the wheel for Luigi? Read the rest of this entry »

K’NEX Mario Kart Wii Review: Yoshi with Standard Go-Kart

with 2 comments

Maybe I’ve seen far too many toys in my life, but it is quickly becoming a rare occurrence when I find a toy that genuinely surprises me. And I don’t mean a company picking up a license I never expected. I’m talking about a toy where I get it and can’t help but think “why hasn’t anyone done this before?” Read the rest of this entry »

K’NEX Mario Kart Wii Review: Mario with Standard Racing Bike

with 2 comments

Ever since LEGO lost their patent on bricks, it seems like every company is trying to get in on the action. But in a very weird twist, K’NEX decided to join in by making a system that combines the K’NEX of old with LEGO bricks – and then tosses on a very well known license! Read the rest of this entry »
