Amazing Spider-Man Super Hero Squad Review: Battle Against Venom

without comments

This set is just awkward. Remember four years ago after Brand New Day when Eddie Brock ended up becoming Anti-Venom? Or how about in the last four years how Venom went from being Mac Gargon to Flash Thompson and now Eddie Brock has no powers and hunts the remaining symbiotes? This set would have been awesome if it was released during the height of the Super Hero Squad, but now it feels even more awkward than the Flashpoint Action League series. Amazing Spider-Man Super Hero Squad Review: Escape from Lizard’s Lair

without comments

I intentionally have been keeping myself in the dark when it comes to Sony’s reboot with The Amazing Spider-Man. All I really know about it is Emma Stone is a perfect Gwen Stacey, the Lizard looks weird, Spidey redid his costume and I’m betting on great power coming with great responsibility. Amazing Spider-Man Super Hero Squad Review: Super Villain Surprise

without comments

It’s been what feels like ages since any Super Hero Squad figures have been released. The Avengers was supposed to include some new sets, but those never materialized so it’s been almost a year since I last got my hands on any new figures! But after the line got unofficially canceled, I can’t say I’m surprised. Kind of like how I’m not surprised that Hasbro used this as excuse to just release the same figures in this three pack. Marvel Super Hero Squad Review: Spider-Man & Thor

without comments

Packing two hard to find figures together seems like a good idea, but I’m wondering what Hasbro is up to when it comes to this two-pack. With both figures being very minor variants, it seems kind of pointless. Read the rest of this entry »

Super Hero Squad Review: Spider-Man & Spider-Woman

without comments

Packing Spider-Man and Spider-Woman together almost makes too much sense. The only way this pack could be more absurd would be if it had been a black costume Spider-Man. Read the rest of this entry »

Marvel Super Hero Squad Review: Black Costume Spider-Man & Green Goblin

without comments

He’s finally arrived! After four years of waiting and waiting for a comic accurate Green Goblin to show up in the Super Hero Squad, Hasbro finally released him stateside. Sure, some of the more crazy collectors (myself included) imported the Spider-Man Saves the Day set to get Norman Osborn and Mary Jane, but now he’s here! Read the rest of this entry »

Super Hero Squad Review: Avengers Attack 7-Pack

with 2 comments

While the second of the Super Hero Squad 7-packs doesn’t feature any brand new sculpts, it definitely fills a hole or two in most people’s collections by bringing together a fantastic New Avengers team up and three who haven’t been seen in a long, long time.

Devious plotting is revealed as the Avengers strike at the heart of the base where the Leader hides. The evil super genius has recruited a number of dangerous villains to his cause. Crossbones is more than happy to test his skills against Captain America and Wolverine, while Red She-Hulk battles Spider-Man and Iron Man! Read the rest of this entry »

Super Hero Squad Review: Defeat of Dr. Doom 7-Pack

without comments

With the end of Galactic Heroes getting announced at the New York Toy Fair, many collectors in the Super Hero Squad community began getting worried. Especially when it was announced that the two-packs were being phased out in favor for the movie line three-packs, then out of the blue – this appeared at Toys “R” Us!

Dr. Doom teams up with a former minion to take out the heroes that continue to stand in his way. The heroes nearly fall victim to the superheated assault of Volcana, but it takes more than a little hot lava to keep a hero down. They fight back, and even the combined might of Dr. Doom and Volcana can’t stand under the onslaught!

Super Hero Squad Review: Vulture & Spider-Man

without comments

Usually when a pack just contains two repaints, I’m less than thrilled by it. But this pack is the perfect way for Hasbro to re-release figures. Minor paint changes to major characters and easily the best value for a Super Hero Squad pack.

Super Hero Squad Review: Iron Fist & Black Costume Spider-Man

without comments

The Super Hero Squad figures draw a lot from the comics – far more than you’d expect at first glance. Between packs screaming Civil War, Secret Wars and Secret Invasion, a handful of them allude to specific pairings from the books. Like this one, which seems like it’s straight out of New Avengers.
