Super Hero Squad Collector’s Pack #4 Review

without comments

If there’s a trend in the Super Hero Squad Collector’s Packs, it’s that the odd numbered ones aren’t that exciting while the even numbered ones are really good, and apparently impossible to find! Gearing up for the Avengers movie, this six-pack almost makes too much sense as a set.

Marvel Super Hero Squad Mega Pack Review: Fin Fang Foom & Iron Man

without comments

The last of the Super Hero Squad Mega Packs takes one of Marvel’s biggest alien dragons and turns him into an adorable piece of plastic. Fin Fang Foom rarely gets his own figure in toy lines, but between his Marvel Legends’ BAF and now this one, it’s clear that someone at Hasbro likes the winged, green alien.

Marvel Super Hero Squad Mega Pack Review: Sentinel & Cyclops

without comments

Of all the Super Hero Squad mega figures, one of them made the most sense from the start: the Sentinel! The massive robots that seemed to crash as often as a Windows operating system, the sentinels have always been a plague to the X-Men. But in the last few years the Sentinels have gone from mindless killing machines to giant protectors.

Mega Super Hero Squad Review: Apocalypse & Beast

without comments

One of my favorite X-Men villains has always been Apocalypse. Sure, he can be a walking Deus Ex Machina at times with a near unlimited power set that changes depending on what the story needs, but the idea of a several thousand year old mutant that believes in survival of the fittest as the only way to live is kind of cool. Throw in the fact that he’s a shape and mass shifter; it made a lot of sense to make him one of the mega Super Hero Squad figures.

Super Hero Squad Mega Pack Review: Ultimate Giant Man & Ultimate Iron Man

without comments

It seems like someone at Hasbro is a big fan of the Ultimate Universe, because in the course of a year a whole bunch of Ultimate characters got released. The Fantastic Four all wore their Ultimate uniforms, even Captain America and Nick Fury joined in. So with the second wave of mega packs, it followed the same theme by adding two more members of the Ultimates to the mix!

Marvel Super Hero Squad Mega Pack Review: Galactus & Human Torch

without comments

A benefit of the Mega figures in the Super Hero Squad is it allows for fluctuations in scale without devouring your wallet. The last time I bought Galactus, I had to shell out $50 for the set of Marvel Legends to get all 7 pieces. Man, remember when Marvel Legends were only $7 each? But these larger figures open up a whole new realm of possibilities of characters that can be done right!

Marvel Super Hero Squad Mega Pack Review – Sentinel & Unmasked Wolverine

without comments

After Hasbro bought the rights to Marvel in terms of toys, I have to make a decision: either continue collecting Marvel Legends or to quit. Shortly after Hasbro unveiled their first wave of Marvel Legends, I was less than impressed and decided I would focus on something else. Combined with moving and a desire to have my stuff take up less space, I was drawn to the Super Hero Squad and two packs were responsible for my adoration of these figures.

I had absolutely adored the Spider-Man & Friends version of Green Goblin and loved the style. So when I saw the upcoming version of the Sentinel, I knew this was the line for me.

Toy Review: Super Hero Squad Collector’s Pack #3

without comments

superherosquad_collectors_pack_3

The third collector’s pack has been found regularly at Toys R Us around the country now, making it infinitely easier to find then the exceptionally rare Collector’s Pack 2. With a $30 price tag, this is pricey for an exclusive but is it worth the money, that really depends on what you’re looking for.
