DC Universe Action League Review: The Flash & Captain Boomerang

With only the Brave and the Bold license for the original Action League, Mattel didn’t exactly get the A-list when it came to figures besides Batman, Aquaman and Joker. I mean, when the allies of Batman included Green Arrow, Plastic Man and B’wana Beast, it doesn’t exactly make sense.
TMNT Mini Mutants Review: Paleo Patrol Raphael & Winged Dino

The last of the Paleo Patrol Mini Mutants is a lot more of the same: odd turtle variants that are kind of accurate to a few shorts from the cartoon but happen to use the movie character designs and a single mythical dinosaur that is awesome, but isn’t something the turtles faced off against.
DC Universe Action League Review: White Lantern Sinestro & Green Lantern Hal Jordan

With the Batman the Brave and Bold Action League effectively dead, Mattel wasted no time in reviving the brand into a much grander line: the DC Universe Action League! Grabbing characters from multiple lines and not just those who showed up in a single cartoon, this new Action League is exceptional!
LEGO Minifigure Series 3 Review: Hula Dancer (8803)

Cloth on LEGO figures can be awesome at times, mildly frustrating at others but this one figure takes the cake for driving me absolutely insane trying to assemble it. Read the rest of this entry »
TMNT Mini Mutants Review: Paleo Patrol Michelangelo & Chomper Bug
Having just played Turtles in Time Reshelled last night on my Xbox 360, the notion of turtles in the past doesn’t seem so bad. Of course, the remake was based off the arcade version of the game where a mud monster is the boss of Prehistoric Turtlesaurus instead of Slash, but that’s not the point.
LEGO Minifigure Review Series 2: Lifeguard (8684)

LEGO has one thing about it that’s kind of odd: water doesn’t really work. With a world made of bricks, the idea of something fluid kind of falls apart. Underwater themed sets just let it slide by showing the packaging with a blue backdrop, but LEGO sets seem to exist either above the water or below it.
LEGO Prince of Persia Review: The Ostrich Race (7570)

Blah blah blah I still don’t know anything about the Prince of Persia but screw that because none of that matters. Know what does matter? LEGO OSTRICHES!
Who will win this wild ostrich-riding race? Creeping into the Valley of the Slaves, Dastan has discovered Sheik Amar’s secret den. Suddenly, with the flick of a lever, a high-speed, out-of-control ostrich race begins! As the kingdom’s outlaws gamble on the winner, can Dastan use the chaos and the very large, very fast riding birds to escape from the illusive Sheik?
LEGO Harry Potter Review: Freeing Dobby (4736)

The first few Harry Potter books feel so quaint when compared to the latest offerings. Diaries and house elves feel so tame when it comes to be attacked by werewolves and Death Eaters. But since The Chamber of Secrets was the first Harry Potter book I ever read, this set makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
With the help of Harry Potter, free Dobby from his master Lucius Malfoy! Trick Lucius Malfoy into freeing Dobby, the house elf! Then use Dobby to protect Harry Potter and send Lucius flying down the hall with a magic blast as he tries to get revenge in this Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets scene.
LEGO Minifigure Series 1 Review: Demolition Dummy (8683)

I don’t know how it happened, but I remember being enamored by the Incredible Crash Test Dummies line of toys. I mean, they were toys that were meant to be destroyed, how is that not totally awesome? So while LEGO calls this guy a “Demolition Dummy,” I know what he really is.
LEGO Minifigure Review Series 3: Mummy (8803)

Somebody at LEGO must really like the undead. LEGO skeletons and ghosts have been common for years, the current theme of Pharaoh’s Quest is fully of mummies and the latest Ninjago has ninjas fighting skeletons! And keeping with the trend set by the Vampire, LEGO is continuing their tour of Universal Studios.
